Gunman arrested after killing 17 year old girl over glance exchange (2025)

Lam Luk Ka Police Station officers arrested a Thai gunman who killed a 17 year old girl at the weekend following an exchange of glances at a barbecue restaurant in the central province of Pathum Thani on April 20.

The 17 year old victim, Wanwisa, also known as Tangmo, lost her life after a fatal shooting on a road in Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani. She was shot in the forehead while travelling on a motorcycle with her boyfriend, causing her to fall onto the road.

Wanwisa’s friends suspected a man they met at the barbecue restaurant to be the gunman. The suspect was later identified as 25 year old Spy. According to her friends, Spy stared at them while they were eating, prompting the group to glance back at him.

There was no altercation at the restaurant but Spy allegedly followed Tangmo and her boyfriend as they travelled home. Upon reaching the location of the incident, Spy opened fire on the couple multiple times, with one shot fatally striking Wanwisa.

Spy evaded arrest and reportedly sent a message to his friends stating that he would never surrender and would fight to the death.

After a five-day investigation, officers on Saturday, April 26, managed to track down Spy at a petrol station in Tha Muang district, in the central province of Kanchanaburi. His 29 year old friend, Nattawut, accompanied Spy and assisted in his escape.

Spy claimed that he and his friends had no previous conflict with Tangmo, her boyfriend, or anyone in their group. However, he alleged that they overheard someone at Tangmo’s table accusing them of being members of a gang called Phahonyothin 92, which they denied.

Spy admitted that there were multiple exchanges of glances at the restaurant, which led him to follow Tangmo’s boyfriend. He confessed to firing a gun but claimed that Tangmo’s boyfriend also shot at him. Spy asserted that he did not target Tangmo specifically and did not intend to kill anyone.

Spy was charged under Section 288 of the Criminal Law for intentional murder. The penalty is death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for 15 to 20 years.

His friend, Nattawut, was charged under Section 192 of the Criminal Law for providing shelter or assisting a suspect in evading arrest. The penalty is up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.
